Clemson at Virginia
When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, January 23, 2018
Where: John Paul Jones Arena, Charlottesville, Virginia

No. 17 Clemson begins a new era without senior leader Donte Grantham, in perhaps the most difficult fashion, when it visits second-ranked Virginia on Tuesday. Grantham, who ranks second on the team in scoring (14.2 points per game) and rebounding (6.9), tore his ACL in Saturday's 67-58 victory over Notre Dame and is lost for the season.

"(Donte) is still a very valuable member of this team, whose leadership will continue to power this team moving forward," Tigers coach Brad Brownell said. "I'm confident he will attack this setback the right way and come back stronger than ever from this injury. He certainly has an exceptionally bright future in basketball." Even with Grantham, Clemson would have been hard-pressed to put up points against the defensively dominant Cavaliers, who have held half of their opponents under 50 points during a 10-game winning streak - including three ACC foes. Kyle Guy scored 17 points and Virginia controlled the second half while holding Wake Forest to 37 percent shooting overall in a 59-49 road win Sunday night. "I told them, this is good because we're going to find out more [about the team]," Bennett told reporters of losing the first half 24-22. "We know a lot about you guys but we're going to find out more. Can we dig a little deeper?"

ABOUT CLEMSON (16-3, 5-2 ACC): The Tigers will lean more on junior Marcquise Reed, who tops the team in scoring (16.0) and steals (1.8) and ranks second in assists (2.9). Fellow guard Gabe DeVoe is tied with Reed with a team-high 38 3-pointers and he led the way with 17 points in the win over Notre Dame. DeVoe also had 15 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists and four steals off the bench in a 77-73 loss to Virginia in the previous matchup just over a year ago, when Clemson recorded the most points in regulation against the Cavaliers all season.

ABOUT VIRGINIA (18-1, 7-0): Redshirt freshman De'Andre Hunter came off the bench to produce 16 points and five rebounds in 22 minutes in Sunday's win, as the 6-7 swingman continues to make a big impact in ACC play. "He lifts a huge weight off of all our shoulders when he can do what he did tonight and the past five or six games," Guy told the team's website. "This summer, he took his game to another level, and early in the season we didn't quite see it. But technically he's a freshman, so he's just trying to get in a rhythm and get acclimated. But now that he's hitting his stride, he's produced a different dynamic for us that helps us a lot." After scoring in double figures in three of his first 13 games, Hunter has produced 10 points or more in five of the last six contests and he is 3-for-3 from beyond the arc over the last two outings.

TIP-INS

1. Virginia has won six straight meetings, although the last three have been decided by seven points or fewer.

2. Tigers F Elijah Thomas entered Monday ranked third in the ACC in field-goal percentage at 62.3.

3. Guy has made all 15 of his free throws over his last 10 games.
